　　The role that China plays in Southeast Asia is absolutely important, said Bala Ramasamy, professor of Economics at China-Europe International Business School (CEIBS), during an interview with China News Network.

　　He added that with large middle-income populations, China is a very important market for ASEAN countries. The relationship between China and ASEAN is friendly,cooperative, and is helping each other grow, he believes.
